Marvelous are the innocent.

Jacob's Room
All things truly wicked start from innocence.
The way to innocence, to the uncreated and to God leads on, not back, not back to the wolf or to the child, but ever further into sin, ever deeper into human life.

I don't know how to defend myself: surprised innocence cannot imagine being under suspicion
But innocence has nothing to dread
Innocence most often is a good fortune and not a virtue
We become innocent when we are unfortunate
Innocence is not accustomed to blush
Innocence is always unsuspicious
The mind conscious of innocence despises false reports: but we are a set always ready to believe a scandal
